Massive snowfalls allow Northstar, Heavenly, and Kirkwood to extend their seasons

Near record-setting snowfall in Northstar California, Heavenly Mountain Resort and Kirkwood Mountain Resort in the Lake Tahoe region has added additional days to the ski and snowboard season in America.

Skiing in Heavenly

Heavenly has added three full weeks to its schedule, with a new closing date of Sunday 7 May; Northstar is adding two additional weekends, remaining open Friday 21 April to Sunday 23 April and Friday 28 April to Sunday 30 April; and Kirkwood has also add two extra weekends, staying open Friday 5 May to Sunday 7 May and Friday 12 May to Sunday 14 May.

Northstar and Heavenly were originally scheduled to close on Sunday 16 April and Kirkwood on Sunday 30 April.

“With all the snow we have received this year, and bluebird days around the corner, we are primed for awesome spring skiing,” said Tom Fortune, VP & COO of Heavenly and the Tahoe Region. “We look forward to sharing it all as we close out a truly wild, but rewarding, season.”

Snowboarding in Kirkwood

Current snow totals at each resort are reaching historic records. Northstar is at 616in (16.64m); Heavenly 538in (13.66m); and Kirkwood 656in (16.66m).
