Let the children play…
by Fashion Editor Clare Meaney
The first time we take our children skiing it can be very exciting, but it can also be a bit nerve-racking. First, we ask ourselves ‘will they like it?’ Then we wonder if they will happily go with the ski instructor or will they think he/she is too scary for words? Will they freeze? Will they refuse to wear the hand-me-down from the previous generation because it isn’t ‘sick’ enough? And more to the point, will they be out there long enough so that you get at least a morning to ski?

by Skier & Snowboarder editor Frank ‘Scoop’ Baldwin
RESORTS have many different names for it – fresh tracks, first tracks, first lift, early birds – the list is fairly extensive. But what they all have in common is that getting up with the lark to hit the slopes while they are empty and untracked is really rather special.

Are you looking for a ski boot with a Cinderella fit? George Fisher can help
WHEN it comes to ski boots, comfort and performance are equally paramount. Yet, a common gripe among skiers is that ski boots can be dreadfully uncomfortable.

Eddie could have been a footballer – but hung up his boots to concentrate on skiing
I STAYED in Canada for most of July because at the time of writing this column I am just about to take part in a stage show which is part of the Calgary Stampede, an annual 10-day rodeo.

The Eagle goes busking in Austria
IF you happened to be in Salzburg recently you may have been surprised to see me busking in one of the city squares!
