Eddie Edwards: Is there a future for ski and snowboard shows?
I had some good fun at the Chill Factore in Manchester when they invited me to take part in the snow centre’s 10th anniversary celebrations in November.
I joined up with all the instructors and we formed ourselves into a ‘10’ formation to ski down the slope. I don’t know if they were trying to tell me something, but I was part of the ‘zero’!

New ski area unveiled in the French Pyrenees
FOUR Pyrenean ski resorts have combined to create a new ski area – the Pyrenees 2 Vallées.
Saint-Lary, Peyragudes, Piau-Engaly and Val Louron will be linked by shuttle bus and between them offer 247 km of skiable terrain with 166 pistes and 66 lifts.

What’s new in France 2017/18
Future of La Grave secured
AFTER a period of uncertainty for La Grave, the future of the legendary off piste area in Les Hautes Alpes has been secured by SATA, the lift company associated with Alpe d’Huez.
SATA has taken on the lease to operate the lift system in La Grave and has pledged to maintain the unique off-piste atmosphere of the area.

Nassfeld is the largest resort in the Southern Austrian region of Carinthia, yet it remains relatively unknown to British holidaymakers.
Located close to the Italian and Slovenian borders, the ski area itself is surprisingly expansive and has everything we come to expect from a resort nowadays – terrain parks, a snow cross track, a half pipe and over 100km of pistes ranging from beginner nursery type slopes through to the ‘Carnia’, a piste that is over 7km long.

Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards and Skier & Snowboarder magazine team up – again!
One of the UK’s favourite sporting personalities, Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards is joining the Skier & Snowboarder team – again!
Eddie first wrote for the magazine nearly 30 years ago when he was signed up as a columnist by Editor Frank Baldwin after he found himself in the celebrity spotlight following his ski jumping exploits in the 1988 Calgary Olympics.

High Standards at the English Indoor Slopestyle Championships
The English Indoor Slopestyle Championships witnessed a great turnout of 70 skiers and snowboarders earlier this month, as the event settled easily into its new home of Snozone in Castleford.
Showcasing the best rising freestyle ski and snowboard talent in the country, the English Indoor Slopestyle Champs has always been one of the key dates on the UK snowsports calendar, and the 2017 edition saw young riders from aged 7 battling it out for the English titles.

CHILL FACTORE CELEBRATES ‘BRING YOUR DOG TO WORK DAY’
Chill Factore, the North’s premier indoor snow destination, has opened its doors to man’s best friend to celebrate ‘Bring Your Dog to Work Day’ (Friday 23rd June).
Home to the longest indoor real snow slope in the UK, Chill Factore supported the national awareness day by welcoming dogs to join its employees to gain work experience at the iconic leisure attraction and enjoy its famous snow.
