Early summer season start for skiers and snowboarders on Les 2 Alpes glacier
Les 2 Alpes claims it will be the first French resort to open its glacier for summer skiing this year. The slopes can be used from 28 May, the earliest the Isère ski area has ever opened its glacier.
Les 2 Alpes also claims it has Europe’s largest skiable glacier and SATA, the lift company, has been carrying out some work in the snowpark.

Cervinia announces 2022 summer ski season
Cervinia has announced plans to open for summer skiing on the weekend of 25-26 June and then daily from the following weekend from 2 July to 4 September 2022.
Skiers and snowboarders have summer access to the year-round ski slopes of the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise above Zermatt.

Spring skiing in the Jungfrau region until May 1
The Jungfrau Ski Region has announced a decision to extend its ski and snowboard season until Sunday 1 May.
This has been made possible by the new Eiger Express lift which links with the Eigernordwand Chairlift and provides access to the Eigergletscher (Eiger Glacier).

The London Ski & Snowboard Festival returns to Battersea Park in October 2022
The new organisers of the The London Ski & Snowboard Festival are inviting visitors to escape to the mountains in the heart of the capital this October (27th – 30th).
Smart Group, a hospitality and creative event specialist, is promising the four-day festival will bring together resorts, fashion, the latest equipment and technology, Team GB athletes, and entertainment for winter sports fans and families of all ages and experience levels.

Subli’Cimes festival returns to the slopes of La Plagne
The sixth edition of Subli’Cimes will return to La Plagne from 13-18 April 2022 and is free for anyone who has a valid ski pass and health pass for those age 12+.
The wacky festival is held throughout all La Plagne’s five summits. At Plan Bois (1,600 m) guests will find a giant ball pool, a sweet bar, rubber rings and kites.

Brand new car is one of the buried treasures waiting to be dug up on the piste
A new BMW X1 sDrive 18d car is the top prize in a treasure hunt being held in Obertauern, Salzburgerland, on 23 April (2022).
The Gamsleiten Kriterium attracts more than 1,000 skiers and snowboarders who race down the Gamsleiten 2 piste to a specially marked out area where the keys to the new car are buried in the snow along with more than 30 other treasure chests containing free holidays and other prizes.

Dave ‘the Rocket’ Ryding unveils centenary memorial to first ever slalom race in Mürren before heading for home
After finishing his World Cup racing season in the French resort of Méribel last Sunday (20 march), British slalom skier Dave Ryding didn’t let the snow melt beneath his feet.
He jumped in the car and sped through the Alps to the Bernese Oberland at the invitation of the Swiss resort of Mürren and its British ski racing club, the Kandahar, which counts Dave among its members.

Lisa Young (left) met up with British slalom skier and Winter Olympian Dave ‘The Rocket’ Ryding who recently made history by becoming the first GB skier to win a world cup race. She joined him on the slopes of Obergurgl in Austria’s Tirol region just hours after he was on the world cup podium again after finishing third in Garmisch (27 February 2022). Lisa chatted with the 35-year-old on a sun-drenched terrace at the Hohe Mut Alm piste-side restaurant, at the top of the Obergurgl’s Hohe Mut Bahn II gondola. In a one-on-one interview she spoke to ‘The Rocket’ about what he does when he is not skiing, his recent Beijing Olympic experience, wedding bells, ski racing future, his café, and life after skiing.
