Chris O’Brien, the MD of the Nevis Range Mountain Experience in Scotland has been shortlisted for the Business Leader of the Year at the 2022 Highland Business Awards.

Chris’s role includes overseeing all business operations from large partnership opportunities with global brands to day-to-day customer-oriented matters. He was previously Destination Manager for The Outdoor Capital of the UK where he helped increase the reputation of Fort William and Lochaber as a highland tourism hotspot. read more

Ski world cup racing squad members take action to save season after UK sport withdraws funding programme

British skiers Dave Ryding, Charlie Guest, Charlie Raposo, Billy Major and Laurie Taylor jointly launched a Crowdfunding Campaign on 14 August in an effort to keep their dreams of success alive following a decision by UK sport to withdraw funding for Alpine, Cross-Country and Para Nordic athletes as the organisation deem the three disciplines to not be investible for World Class Programme support. read more

London Ski & Snowboard Festival returns to Battersea Park in October

The London Ski & Snowboard Festival is making a return to Battersea Park from 27 – 30 October, and Smart Group, the new organisers, claim it is going to be bigger and better than ever.

The four-day festival will have a host of ski and snowboard related exhibitors as well as an entertainment programme which includes Team GB athletes, après ski, performances from professional ski and snowboard athletes on a 140ft ski jump, a practice slope, and a torchlit toboggan race. read more

Dave ‘the Rocket’ Ryding unveils centenary memorial to first ever slalom race in Mürren before heading for home

After finishing his World Cup racing season in the French resort of Méribel last Sunday (20 march), British slalom skier Dave Ryding didn’t let the snow melt beneath his feet.

He jumped in the car and sped through the Alps to the Bernese Oberland at the invitation of the Swiss resort of Mürren and its British ski racing club, the Kandahar, which counts Dave among its members.   read more

Oxygene mourns the loss of Bertrand de Monvallier, one of its founders, who has passed away

Bertrand de Monvallier, one of the founders of Oxygene Ski & Snowboard School,  passed away recently following a 10-month battle with illness.

A statement released by the company said: “The entire Oxygene family is devastated by his loss and for anyone that had ever met Bertrand, they will understand what it means to lose someone that was so inspirational and passionate about skiing, life and the business that he and his brothers have built over the past 30 years.” read more

Beijing 2022: Kenworthy bows out of competitive skiing with an 8th place in halfpipe final

Team GB’s freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy, who came eighth in the men’s halfpipe final, was competing at his third and final Olympics.

Gus previously competed for the USA by qualifying through his American father, but he also has an English mother and was born in Essex which enabled him to switch to the GB team. read more
