With the largest skiable glacier in Europe, Les 2 Alpes is world-renowned and a much-loved destination for British skiers, with many returning season after season.
Situated in Isère, France’s third largest mountain destination, Les 2 Alpes is a friendly ski resort with a fantastic range of bars and restaurants for all ages.
Plus, the resort caters for all levels of skier, with 60% of the pistes ideal for beginners and intermediates, and 40% for expert skiers. Beginners with a few days’ skiing under their belt may even be able to ski from the top of the glacier down to resort level on greens and easy blues.
Les 2 Alpes continues to develop its ski area this year, following upgrades to the Vallée Blanche sector last season. This winter the original Jandri cable car, dating back to 1985, is replaced by the brand new Jandri 3S. Taking skiers from the bottom of the pistes, to the top of the ski area, the new lift not only has double the capacity (from 1,700 to 3,000), but also halves the time it takes to reach the glacier, a new record time of 17 minutes instead of 40 minutes. Innovative technology, using two support cables and one haul cable, provides greater stability and wind resistance, compared to conventional gondolas that only use a single cable. Ideal for those looking to enjoy the sights and slopes on the top of the glacier at 3600m.
Located at the southerly end of the French Alps, part of Les 2 Alpes’ charm is it benefits from sunshine. Partner this with its high-altitude glacier-covered mountain, snow cover is almost guaranteed! Unlike normal glacial pistes, which are attractive to the intermediate and advanced skiers, the glacier is open to all ski levels, and home to easy slopes right at the top of the glacier. First-time skiers can enjoy the beautiful views and high-altitude atmosphere right from day one.
Beginners can also find nursery slopes down in the village, and across on the newly developed Vallée Blanche slopes. Intermediate and expert-level skiers and boarders have access to hundreds of kilometres of terrain that is suitable for all skill level, plus different dedicated areas for freeriding.
Les 2 Alpes ranks amongst Europe’s most snowboard and freestyle-skier friendly resorts, with a huge terrain park complete with jumps, rails, two boardercross courses, and a half-pipe. In other words, the resort caters well for every ability level and every style of snow sports.
