Klagenfurt Airport, Easyjet and two of the leading ski resorts in southern Austria have joined and have come up with a money saving offer for skiers and snowboarders who want to make a low-cost fast trip to the Alps this winter.
Easyjet flights from Gatwick to Klagenfurt are available from just £11, and you can be on the slopes within two hours of landing at the airport.
The airport prides itself on the speed it can get people in and out. It has now teamed up with several hotels to provide free transport to your accommodation and this is worth more than €200 return (approximately £170).
Visitors can choose between stays of three nights (Wednesday to Saturday), four nights (Saturday to Wednesday) or a week. Currently, you can book a four-nights’ stay with half board from £348 per person (see example further below).
Ski resorts within easy reach from Klagenfurt are Schladming in the Dachstein Region (120 minutes’ drive), Nassfeld (on the Italian border; 60 minutes), Bad Kleinkirchheim (aka BKK; 50 minutes) to name just a few.
There are flights from other UK airports, and although these are not direct, travellers can still qualify for the free transfer offer as long as they land at Klagenfurt Airport and book any of the participating hotels.
When you contact the hotel to make your booking quote “Special offer: free transfers from Klagenfurt Airport” and they will arrange the transfer.

This city centre hotel once had Napoleon as a guest and during his stay the Corsican had a relationship with what has been described as a beautiful inhabitant of the town. It is said that, in memory of this, Bonaparte received a handmade marzipan heart as a gift from the woman.
The historic hotel dates back to the construction of the city in the 16th century. It was a mansion, which later became an apartment building with law firms, apartments, and shops. In 1969, it was rebuilt, and the 200-year-old Baroque facade restored before it re-opened as a hotel.
Today, you’ll find original paintings (Friedrich von Amerling, Carl von Blaas, Hans Makart or Lampi), Persian rugs (which were owned by the family of the Shah of Persia) and the silk wallpapers used in the suites and rooms were specially made.
