Like many Austrian resorts, Kitzbühel has put in a whole range of covid protection measures to keep visitors safe this winter.
Situated in the Tirol at an altitude of between 762 – 2,000m, skiers and snowboarders have a choice of 57 cable cars and lifts, 233km of pistes and 92 marked and groomed ski slopes, plus the Hanglalm Snowpark to enjoy. There’s also natural toboggan runs and four artificial and two natural ice-skating rinks.
This season, guests travelling to the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental and KitzSki can try what is claimed to be the longest ski circuit in the world.
A new connection allows visitors to ski from Going am Wilden Kaiser, across to the Kitzbühel Alps to Hollersbach in the Hohe Tauern, never using the same slope twice. The 34.7 km round trip can be started from any stage location and can be enjoyed using just one lift pass – the KitzSkiWelt.
Among the main attractions during the season are the famous Hahnenkamm World Cup Races. The 82nd event will take place in Kitzbühel from 17-23 January 2022.
An expansion project has been completed at the Alpenhotel Kitzbühel, situated on the shores of Lake Schwarzsee. The hotel now has a new lakeside lodge which includes an à la carte restaurant and high-end accommodation.
Four new luxury suites have been added at the five-star A-ROSA Kitzbühel. The hotel features beautiful Tyrolean style turrets and shingle roof and natural stone bay windows that seamlessly blend into the surrounding countryside.
There is accommodation to suit all budgets but as an example, a seven-night stay in a twin room at the charming Hotel Edelweiss in Kitzbühel, booked through Inghams on a half board basis, arriving 8 January 2022 is priced from £1,029 pp based on two sharing. Includes return flights from London Stansted to Salzburg and transfers.
