Telluride in Colorado celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the resort’s opening on 15 March with a day of special events which included a free on-mountain event at Gorrono Ranch for anyone with a lift pass.
South African electronic duo Goldfish entertained an audience of skiers and snowboarders and there was a special prize to those with the best 70s’ themed outfit. A prize was also awarded prize to the snowboarder who recorded the most vertical feet from the first lift until 1.30pm on the anniversary day.
The change to daylight saving hours aso enabled Telluride to extend its season until 1 April. To celebrate the end of the season, the KOTO 2023 Spring Street Dance, featuring Shakedown Street and a cash bar with Telluride Brewing Company beer, took place on 31 March. The annual Closing Day Party at Gorrono Ranch included the popular Pond Skim tradition to background music from DJ Wombat.
Events announced for the 23/24 season include the Holiday Prelude celebration when Mountain Village is transformed into the North Pole on 9 and 10 December 2023. There will be train rides, meetings with Santa, ice skating, and children’s holiday surprises.
The Sheridan Arts Foundation and Jeb Berrier will present the 24th annual Telluride Comedy Festival at the Sheridan Opera House over President’s Day weekend from 15 to 19 February 2024.
Telluride Gay Ski Week takes place from 24 February to 2 March 2024. Originally founded in 2002, the event is run by SBG Productions, the brains behind Telluride Brews & Blues and the Telluride Jazz Festival. It will feature an opening-day party, daily après ski, pool parties, late-night lounges, including the signature White Party.
