Here’s a blast from the past found in a copy of the Skier magazine from the mid 80s. How many of these youthful faces from the world of ski racing can you recognise in the Radio 1 studio with DJ Peter Powell?
The racers helping to launch Salomon’s ‘Invitation to Ski’ include freestyler Robin Wallace, cross country skier Ewan Mackenzie, biathlete Peter Lee, three time Olympic skier Divina Galica, and downhill skier Martin Bell. Also pictured in the centre in John Clark who does not seem to be mentioned in the article (see below). We believe that freestyler Martin Fielden is also on the far left.
The event also launched a series of Salomon ‘Hot Lines’ which people could call to get free lessons on dry slopes. We think the person representing Salomon in the photo is Mike Johnson. Can anyone confirm this?
